All burner operations are surface-mix, where the fuel mixing of gas and oxygen take place outside the burner head. This design keeps the burner operating at a cooler temperature, while giving an intensely hot flame. Burner fuels are channeled through small front face holes and hypo-tubing, producing a laminar flow. The operator can change the flame length without changing the flame temperature. The result is a burner that will increase the amount of flame without changing the even flame temperature required for flameworking.
The PM2D-WC comprises a nickel-plated brass body with a head of stainless steel that is silver clad to a tellurium copper front plate. The stainless steel helps reflect the high heat generated by the flame, while the tellurium copper front plate conducts the heat away from the head to the finned body for cooling. The PM2D-WC will work on either low or high pressures – gas 1/4 psi to 10 psi and oxygen 10 psi to 20 psi. Recommended gases are: manufactured gas, natural gas, propane or hydrogen, all with oxygen.
