Step Up From Minor

This torch is perfect for soft glass or small boro. I have worked 19mm heavy wall pretty easily with this torch. Offers a little more heat and oxy efficiency compared to the Minor.

Nortel Mega Minor Burner

This is my first dual fuel torch and I absolutely love it! I melts my soft glass in seconds and also works well with small boro work that I am now learning to work. It has a great flame that gets fairly bushy down to a pin point flame for small detail work. It is a new lampworker must have torch at a great price.

I've had this torch for years now and have never had an issue with it.. Very little maintenance required and I've managed to make some substantial pieces on this torch. It packs more punch than it looks like!

Bang for your buck

Although Nortel torches are a bit of an oxygen hog I love my mega minor. I've done everything from vessel pieces to micro pull millefiori with it. Works great by itself or as a top mount.

Excellent intro torch

The Nortle Mega Minor is a great torch for beginners or hobbyists. Very economic intro price that will allow you to work a great range of pieces.
I have been working on this torch for the last two years and have rarely been wanting for more. Can make modest sculptural pieces (turtles, elephants, etc.) And capable of making marbles up to almost 1.5 inches in diameter (which is bigger than you think).

Oxygen use is modest but will depend on usage. When I first started I could run almost 24 hours of melt time on a 150 CF tank. Now go through a it in about 12-14 hours.

Maintaining is a breeze. The torch is really simple to take apart and clean out with the provided port cleaning tool.

If you are a beginner or a hobbyist this is a great torch for the money. If you go pro or melt for many years you can always upgrade and keep this as a back up. No regrets on this purchase.

A great torch for the value

This is a great beginner/intermediate torch for both soft and hard glass. This is my first torch and iā€™m still using it over a year later. I am currently making pendants with 10 mil rod with no problem whatsoever and often folding the rod over for some pendants, effectively doubling the size of the glass in the flame. Still, no issues to date melting small/medium size boro.

I would say that probably one of the best features of this torch is that it runs quite well on oxygen concentrators. Ive been running it on two 5 lpm, 5 psi concentrators each set at around 4.5 lpm and this torch gets plenty hot to melt small to medium size boro pieces up to 20 mil in diameter. I would recommend this torch to anyone as an entry level torch that will give you plenty of use working soft and hard glass for quite some time. Even when I do upgrade to a bigger torch for working larger pieces of boro I will be keeping this torch in my studio as my go to soft glass and bead torch for years to come.
