Dark Red Elvis - Trautman
Details
The darker version of the world’s first self-striking ruby boro. Dark Red Elvis is very saturated and is a great choice for a red in thin stringers and thin blown work. Dark Red Elvis self-strikes as it cools, but gets a little bit darker with kiln striking, or flame striking. It will flame strike in a neutral to oxidizing atmosphere, at a slightly lower temperature than most rubies.

The KING

First of all for a self-striking color this deep dark red is virtually impervious. When worked it turns almost entirely clear but quickly strikes to an almost black red. I recommend blowing out or pulling down to experience all of the rich deep red hue.
Love this color!

Dark Red Elvis is one of my very favorite colors for backing pendants. It melts easily and flows smoothly. It starts to strike relatively quickly, so you can double-check to make sure you haven't missed a spot before you toss it in the kiln. Also, the color is unusual in the boro palette, and it coordinates surprisingly well with carnelian beads -- if you're in to making finished jewelry.
