Working Notes
Torch: Black Opalescent remains black except in extremely thin applications, when it may become dark gray. It is a soft glass. Beware of heating the glass so much that it bleeds and webs out over other glasses‚ or use this quality as a design element. Consider using Stiff Black Opalescent for a crisper appearance.
Kiln: Working properties and kilnformed characteristics are consistent with sheet glass; can produce dappled lighting effects that are highly valued in stained glass applications.
Rods are pulled from re-melted Bullseye Compatible sheet glass. Rod is sold in lengths of approximately 18in. (450 mm) and 4-6mm in diameter. Bullseye rods are graded either as F (recommended for both kilnwork and torchwork) or T (recommended for torchwork only).
