Working Notes
Torch: This style may not reveal (or strike to) its target color until fired. This dense opalescent stays true to color except when used in the smallest amounts. Keep it bright yellow by working with a neutral-to-oxidizing flame atmosphere. Can turn gray in reduction. We advise labeling all striking glasses.
Kiln: Lighter color and greater opacity than in sheet glass form.
This style is not suitable for kilncasting because it can become incompatible when held at high temperatures for an extended period. It may also become incompatible in instances where processes exceed the parameters of the test for compatibility. Testing recommended when heatwork exceeds these parameters.
Rods are pulled from re-melted Bullseye Compatible sheet glass. Rod is sold in lengths of approximately 18in. (450 mm) and 4-6mm in diameter. Bullseye rods are graded either as F (recommended for both kilnwork and torchwork) or T (recommended for torchwork only).
