Details

Stormy Weather is a block buster. Absolutely stunning opaque silver color that is smooth and buttery to work with. Purples, blues, violets, fuchsia, greens and earth tones are possible in either rich deep color or pastel variations. Easy to strike. Try selectively cooling and striking for different effects. Great in either stringer form or as a backdrop for other colors. It is outstanding by itself.

It is possible to retain a light purple when deep encased but most usually turns a creamy blue or tan. It can be made into twisties which retain striping when coiled. Wonderful in beads and easy to strike raku. Beautiful opaque purple makes a nice backing for marbles. Great potential when used in larger sculptural applications.

Perfect for sculpting!

by -

I love Stormy Weather! I didn't know what to expect from the weird opaque chartreuse rod the first time I picked it up, but it's magic: a pastel-y, (mostly) opaque amber-purple type color! (I suppose that makes it a boro "chalcedony.") The consistency is perfect for sculpting -- not too stiff or too runny when it's hot. Presonally, I don't care for the colors I get when it's encased with clear or imploded, but it's a winner for surface work.

My most recent color discovered. Lots of experimenting with different strikes and love it.

Excellent base color

SW is super creamy. When coiled up or raked over tubing; you can work it super fast with a high oxygen flame to keep it from over saturating. Then hit it with a neutral flame where you want to add a fumed effect. You can also reverse this method.

Great color to use when coil potting. Easy to use, outcome is beautiful and the variation of colors you can get out of it by striking it differently is amazing.
