Lava - #70 Fine Frit - 4oz. - Northstar
NS-64 Lava is a bright intense opaque orange. It is very bright and well suited for stringer application and blown work. It is not terribly sensitive to flame chemistry but stay out of overly reducing flames.
Lava however is heat sensitive so it must be worked carefully to prevent boiling. Encasing with clear is another method to shielding the color, but not necessary. Lava can be easily worked on the surface and will not boil or scar if worked carefully in a soft flame.
A nice color effect to try is a layer of NS007 Ruby over NS-64 Lava.

Great for Inside Work

Lava #70 is a color I like to use for inside work. It being fine grade allows it to melt in quickly and it covers a lot more area than the same amount of the #38 & #25 grade. It also blends into the glass such that it looks like a single piece of Lava glass, as opposed to many tiny pieces of frit melted together which can be the result with #25 grade and #38 grade Lava.
