Trickster - 3 oz. - Val Cox Frit
Don't let its unmelted looks deceive you. The clear glass will strike quickly to rich shades of pale ruby and tinted fuchsia against a backdrop of cool green-gray.
To strike the pinks, heat the smooth or raised frit on the bead to a soft orange glow, remove from the flame to cool for 15-30 seconds, then reintroduce to the flame for the pink tones to appear.
Works nicely with silver foil.
PLEASE NOTE: The metal oxides that give furnace glass its intense color also make it more elastic. This means that Val Cox frit is compatible with Moretti/Effetre/Vetrofond (104 COE), Val Cox (96 COE) and Bullseye (90 COE) as long as you use it in moderation. A conservative rule of thumb is 5% of the weight of the bead. Fortunately, since furnace glass colors tend to be intense, a small amount not only works best, it looks best.
