Part 1…Set Value

This is the temp. the kiln will automatically go to when you turn it on. It will stay at this temp until you either start the ramp program, or turn the kiln off.

Turn the kiln on. The OUT light is green. Press the SEL button once. The SV light will be red. This is the Set Value (SV) for the temp you want the kiln to hold. Press é ê to set the temperature you desire. Press SEL again. It’s all set now!

Part 2: Multi-stage Ramping

Program Ramp up to & soak at annealing temp; Ramp down to and soak at strain point.

Part 1—Annealing soak: Go to first setpoint - temp you desire - (Su-1). Take a rate of 10 minutes to get to this temp. (7ï 1r) Soak for 1 hour 30 minutes (7ï 1s)

Part 2—Strain point down-ramp: Ramp down to strain point of 770 degrees (Su-2) Take a rate of 2 hours to get to this temp. (7ï 2r) Soak for 15 minutes (7ï 2s) Let kiln cool to room temp on it’s own. (The numbers in the 3rd and 4th parts of the ramp program are all "0")

To set up the Multistage Ramping program:

Turn the Power switch ON. The OUT light will be green. Press and hold SEL button until you see the letter P (for program?). Release the SEL button. Now press the ê button several times until it reads Su-1. Release button. Press the SEL button once to choose this program component. This is your first setpoint (temperature) value.

Using the é ê arrows, select the temperature that you would like the kiln to go. For example, 1100° Press the SEL button to complete that selection.

Press the ê once. You will see 7ï1r. This is the rate the kiln will ramp to your first setpoint temperature value. Press the SEL key once, and use the é ê buttons to select the amount of time you want the kiln to reach your first setpoint value. (This number is written in hours and minutes. For example, 1 hour, 25 minutes = 1.25) Press the SEL button to complete that selection.

Press the ê once. You will see 7ï1s. This is the soak time the kiln will hold your first setpoint temperature value. Press the SEL button once, and use the é ê buttons to select how long you want your work to soak at the first setpoint temperature. Press the SEL button to complete that selection.

Repeat steps 3-10 to change the values for the other parts of your ramp schedule. Part 2 would include the temp, rate, and soak, (Su-2, 7ï2r, and 7ï2s, respectively); Part 3 would include temp, rate, and soak, (Su-3, 7ï3r, and 7ï3s); Part 4 would include the temp, rate, and soak, (Su-4, 7ï4r, 7ï4s). If you choose not to use all the 4 parts of the schedule, make sure all the unused values are set to "0".

Finally, press the ê button until you see ïod;. Press the SEL button once. The value should be set at "4". If it is not, use the é ê buttons to change it to 4. After setting this last value, WAIT for approx. 30 seconds and the controller will go back to showing the current temp in the kiln. The values you put in are now in the controller’s memory until you change them again.

NOTE: If you ever take more than 30 seconds to put in a value, by default the controller will automatically go back to showing the current temp. You will have to go back to step #2 to program the parts you missed.

To Run The Multistage Ramping Program: Press and hold the SEL button until you see "ROFF". Press and release the é button once to select "RRUN". WAIT approx. 30 seconds and your ramping program will begin. The controller will go back to displaying the current temp. in the kiln. Your controller will automatically run through all 4 parts of your ramping schedule, start to finish, whenever you set it to "RRUN".
