Details

Named for the shadowy edge of a lunar eclipse, Penumbra is a reactive “silvered” cobalt blue, reformulated from one of Paul Trautman's old favorites. Different colors are produced from reduction or oxidation, primarily a wide variety of blues and greens. Reduction can create a luster that you can trap under a clear encasement. However, surface haze doesn’t burn off as easily as amber/purple type glasses.

blendumbra

This color has A LOT of silver in it. If working on surface make sure to keep an oxidizing atmosphere to avoid mudding the surface. My favorite way to use this color is to blend it. The silver will go for days. I use up to a 5 to 1 ratio clear to color with this and still get amazing reactions. Once you pull it down, put over black of your choice to really see the whispy blues, purples, and greens. I also like to blend it about 50/50 with stardust for a great reactive sparkle color

Subtle yet interesting

This color is easy to work, creamy texture. Can use in either a high oxy or more reductive flame for different effects. Encasing in clear can add some interesting effects. I tend to use a more oxidizing flame to bring out the silver blues, which almost have a ghostly purple quality to them. Good for blown work.
