These Heat Defense Pads are unique from other types of heat resistant glassblowing material. They use the Carbon X material developed for Nascar racing. Since Heat Defense Pads are made of 4-Ply carbon X material they can readily withstand temperatures up to 2000 degrees F.

Great heat defense

Great for wiping glass out of the kiln or for grabbing something hot
Do not buy this, just use cardboard or some non synthetic brush instead

I would leave 0 stars if possible, this leaves contaminants on my nice prep work when used for quick kiln dust wipes. Not sure how other people are getting this to work, when wiping glass that is at 1050 it will smoke and leave streaks on the prep that cannot be removed and that will not burn off. May as well be using plastic, do not buy this unless you want an expensive pot holder that works only under 500 degrees. I only use it now to hold warm pieces out of the kiln the next morning.
