Details

Dragon's Blood is a self striking ruby color. This color has been designed to strike back to a rich ruby red in the flame.

Working Tip: This color will strike back as it cools. Dragon’s Blood will strike to a deeper red in the flame or kiln.

Product Specifications:
Each rod is approximately 20" in length and 7mm in diameter.

Artist Description by Mike Shelbo:
"This is a color I have been waiting to get my hands on for some time. It is a self striking deep ruby that does not over strike or liver. Dragon's Blood can be used in all applications such as surface work, inside out, solid or hollow sculpture and can be diluted to different consistencies for a brighter ruby finish. An example of this is that the goblin head bead is coiled Dragon's Blood and while still transparent enough to let light transmit through, it strikes to the perfect deep ruby that is dark enough to seem opaque.

When experimenting with Dragon's Blood I covered a point of one inch heavy wall clear tube with it and blew it out thin to achieve a lighter, brighter, perfect ruby. When sandwiched between clear layers and blown out you can see the color goes a long way and with the self striking quality of the glass, you are able to see what you can expect from different ratios of color to clear.”

stringer dinger

this is one of my personal favorites. it can take lots of heat and turns out beautiful in marbles and I/O work. I like to take steel wool and coat it with Dragons Blood. REALLY cool effect. This color is also a good one to practice vac stacks with. Do a few full tubes of just Dragons Blood. It will be clear while working it, so you can see when the air is properly taken out during the process. this color is top notch.

Super fun red

I love this color it looks clear when its hot and you have to play with it in low flame low oxygen will give you a true blood coming out of you color and the more you flick it in the flame the darker the red will get til it gets awesome hints of smokey black in it.

Easily used in any application

Thicker than half blood but less dense than Cherrywood strike. Looks great over sparkle based colors like Disco Sparkle and produces colors that range from yellow/orange/pink/purple/fushia when fumed with silver then covered or honeycombed with clear

This is an awesome color. When struck in the flame the outcome is amazing. This color has a wide variety of colorations. I work it in a cold flame in order to express the variation of reds, then encase it in clear to get some nice looking results. It's one of my favorite colors.

I'm seeing red..

This color is flawless. The color does all the work for you. No matter what flame you use it always comes out a perfect ruby red. Looks great with paparattzi on top of it. Perfect color for coiling around tubes on the lathe.

This is a great color that can really take some heat and will still strike back to a dark red. The color is quite vibrant even pulled into thin stringers. Rapid heating is not an issue at all.

This is my favorite red and doesn't really require kiln striking. This looks really good over Might Moss. Reacts really nice with triple passion frit.
