Details

Andromeda is a striking sparkle color that takes the Triple Passion strike and the sparkle of Paparazzi and combines them in one!

Working Tip: Work this color like you would Triple Passion or a similar striking color. Since this color also has chrome it in work it in a neutral flame and garage at 975° F, Anneal at 1050° F.

Product Specifications:
Each rod is approximately 20" in length and 7mm in diameter.

Artist Description by Mike Shelbo:
"Andromeda is a transparent green sparkle that strikes when heated to a transparent amber that will continue to strike to a deep purple, if the layer of color is thick enough.

In addition to the base color there is sparkle and silver that will fume the surface of the color as it gets worked. You can treat Andromeda similar to GA Triple Passion and use an intense, sharp flame to burn off the silver fume on the surface if you wish to show the brilliance of the sparkle in the finish of your piece. You can get a range of finishes with this color without encasement, depending on how long the color is worked and in what flame atmosphere. I have found that when encased in clear, Andromeda handles very well and the clear can often intensify the sparkle. If worked before encasement you can trap silver fuming off the color and have a milky blue ghostly veil over your sparkle green or purple.

The sparkle flakes in Andromeda seem to reflect a rainbow of color, ending in gold. The color can be manipulated by twisting, compressing, layering and thinning the amount of color used and how it is worked into your piece, resulting in a number of finishing looks. When kiln striking the base color to shift into deeper colors try 1100° F for short intervals of time until you see the desired results. Andromeda pairs well with GA Eclipse and GA Grape.”

I had hoped for more

by -

I purchased this color with excitement and the expectation it would be a sparkly triple passion, as the GA description reads. This is an interesting color. The strike looks like it is there, but just doesn't come through to yield the bright colors triple passion delivers. There is a haze to burn off, as with TP, but it is different and doesn't burn off easily. The result is kind of a muted, hazy triple passion with sparkle. I have layered it over black and white. Ho-hum results. I have layered it over triple passion and white to see if it worked better. No different result and the TP didn't seem to strike. Ran the pieces through 2 kiln cycles with no real change. Bummer.

GA Andromeda

Andromeda is one of my favorite new colors in the boro palette. As with all the other new GA sparkle line, this one has plenty of BLING to catch eyes.It works wonderfully, both inside and out, very smooth. You can yield a nice range of wispy blues and purples when struck, but the sparkle always shines through.A great new addition to GA color line.

Pour on that oxy

I also found this color somewhat disappointing at first but when i poured oxygen on it the color brightened up and the sparkles became much more visible. Can be kilned hot without worrying of checking (so far). This is a newer color so experiment! Works great for stringers. You can always make your own form of "andromeda" by blending more transparent strikes by GA with Jackpot/Paparazzi/Sapphire etc. definantly worth at least getting a stick

Great workable color!!

Andromeda has quickly become one of my favorite colors to use! It has so much versatility from the fact the it strikes inside and out (the outside striking can be burned away with an oxy rich flame). It’s also no slouch in the bling department either as it’s packed with plenty of sparklie bits!! Try mixing with white to get a cool effect that makes almost a money colored marbeling effect that looks great solid and blown out!
